When you see women doing things like…
– Launching new businesses
– Falling in love with amazing partners
– Booking international trips and seeing the world
– Transforming their bodies, losing weight, practicing yoga daily, or training for a 5K
What do you think to yourself?
What runs through your mind?
Do you say to yourself:
“Whatever she’s got that makes it possible for her to do that… I just don’t have that. I don’t have the grit. I don’t have the strength. I don’t have what it takes.”
Guess what? It’s not true. Your brain is lying to you. Actually, you do have what it takes.
If you are alive, if your heart is still beating, then you have the power to change any aspect of your life that you want.
If you’re thinking, “Seriously, Susan, shut up with the personal development bullshit. I JUST DON’T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES, OK?”… then let me introduce this possibility:
Maybe you have an incredible amount of personal agency and power—the power to shape your life in whatever way you want.
But maybe you haven’t been using your power very effectively.
Maybe you’ve been mis-directing your power. Maybe you’ve been giving it away—allowing it to be “stolen” or “drained”—instead of harnessing it productively.
For example:
Maybe, like one my recent clients, you’ve given ten years of your life to a career that you don’t even like.
Maybe, like another one of my clients, you spend ten hours a week meticulously planning and preparing special “diet meals” that you don’t even enjoy, exhausting yourself in the process.
Maybe, like me ten years ago, you repeatedly say “Yes” to family commitments and obligations that bore you.
If that’s your pattern, then no wonder you feel powerless! No wonder you feel like you “don’t have what it takes” to take care of yourself, or to set goals and achieve them. You’re mentally and physically exhausted because you’ve been giving your time and energy away to people, companies, systems, and commitments that drain your power until it feels like there’s nothing left.
But that doesn’t have to be your storyline forever. You can change the narrative. You can take back your power—and you can take your life in any direction you want.
Can you get onboard with that? Can you try to believe that? I hope so. Here’s a conversation-shift that might help:
Instead of saying to yourself:
“I want to change my life/body, but I’m pretty sure I don’t have what it takes.”
Try saying:
“I want to change my life/body. Currently, I am pretty exhausted which makes the entire prospect feel pretty overwhelming. But that’s not going to be my situation forever. I am going to strip unnecessary bullshit out of my life, strip away everything that’s weighing me down, and I am going to feel my power returning to me. Week by week, I am going to feel increasingly unstoppable. It all starts right now.”
#TakeBackYourPower and funnel it into the goals and priorities that really matter to you.
Start today, by removing one thing from your life that feels draining to you. One thing, no matter how small. It might be a TV show that exhausts you or a social commitment that bores you. Subtract it from your life. Boom. You just took back some of your power. Keep going.
You won’t believe how much better you feel.
You won’t believe what becomes possible for you.

Here’s what Kara had to say about BARE: “My goal was to develop love and compassion for myself and my body exactly where it was, and Susan’s cheerful, compassionate, and supportive approach helped me do that. I’ve worked with many different coaches over the years, but Susan is something special. Anyone can sell you a diet trick, and it might work temporarily, but the only truly revolutionary change you can make is to accept and love your body just as it is. Susan is one of the few coaches in the industry who truly understand this and is skilled in helping women learn it, too.”
